Some important snippets:

"'What amazing things can we build?' quickly turns into 'How quickly can we cash out?'"

"The current startup mindset usually conflates the two, assuming that anything worth building must be scalable, must be monetizable, must be venture-backable."

Some gems:

"When you remove the pressure to monetize everything, interesting things happen."

"Instead of optimizing for scale, I want to optimize for delight."

This phenomenon is naturally not exclusive to vibe coding. Mention any sort of skill or hobby to anyone and the almost knee jerk reaction is to say, "Have you considered making money from it?"

Amazing point of view! I admire people that are able to maintain the inspiration to make nuggets of gold instead of cheap plastic.

Great piece! I haven't built anything but have been feeling this. It reminds me of the work of my colleague Tatiana Fraser on Deep Scaling as opposed to scaling up. Thanks for sharing!
